What defines good Christian rap? Although you probably already know that it is a good Christian rap artist that creates good Christian rap, what makers a good Christian rap artist good is it is not as simple as you might assume. If you are new to Christian rap music than you might assume that the same principles that define a good secular artist also applies to Christian music. Fortunately, it does not. When listening to Christian rap there are three areas of focus that needs to be on point for it to be considered good music. Those areas are: 1st lyrical content, 2nd Production, and 3rd Style. Unlike secular music, which only needs a good beat and a catchy hook to be propelled to the top of the billboards, Christian rap artist have higher expectations because it is not just a good beat that their fans want to hear. For example, if a Christian rap artist's lyrical content is more secular than Christian they will not develop much of a fan base. Why? Because if the listeners of Christian music wanted to hear secular content why would they resort to listening to Christian orientated music. What is going to happen is that the artist's fan base will not grow like he would like because he isn't not giving his listeners sufficient Christian material. As notes earlier, the 2nd most important area of focus for a Christian rap artist is production. Although, Christian music might not be as hard to get notoriety as secular, you still have to come quality, head bobbing beats. Just because the artist does have good lyrical content does not mean that the listener is going to allow his eardrums to be tortured by horrible production. It is still the business of music. If you don't produce good music than you will also struggle to obtain a fan base. The last area of focus is style. This is what propels a good artist to a great one. Christian rap artist might be able to get away with a generic style and still be able to make good Christian rap music, but if the artist has a unique flow that is really pleasant to listen to it makes all the difference.
